About Natalia...

Natalia, our loving, intelligent, and witty 10-year-old little girl possessed an inner "light" that seemed to purposefully radiate those around her.  Long before being diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at age six, Natalia demonstrated her true passion-making others happy.  Through 2 1/2 years of chemotherapy treatment, her spirit never dimmed nor did her illness ever define her true being.  She became "cancer free" and within a year, relapsed despite a 93% cure rate.  In August of 2013 our family walked hand in hand with Natalia into the Barbara Bush Children's Hospital, after completing her first phase of treatment for an apparent infection, only to never return home.

Long before Natalia was diagnosed, it was easy to recognize that Natalia had strikingly special qualities.  You almost knew, being in her presence, she was destined to make an impact on the world someday. Natalia was never focused on herself, a peacemaker of sorts who had the beauty, confidence, and voice that would undoubtedly make her successful in anything she chose.  She believed in fairy tales and happy endings and saw the goodness in others. She especially adored her brothers and her dad. She would often tease, but would protect them like a mother bear should anyone cross them.  She loved to draw, and her drawings along with her hidden love notes, conveyed that happiness of her innermost love.

Although Natalia had a child-like essence and innocence, she possessed qualities of an old soul. She looked at things with greater meaning and asked questions far more complex than one would imagine. She loved a good joke and possessed a wit that would surprise you. An excellent judge of character she was, while Natalia marveled at life's mysteries and all the while appreciated the "little" things that made up the joys of  life-butterflies, perfectly formed snowflakes, daisy petals, wagging puppy tails...

Love stories were her favorite.  And singing, she was always humming a tune in her head or belting out one of her many favorite Taylor Swift songs.  And over time, she became a little actress all the while embracing just being a "young lady", appreciating those pretty yet sentimental things.  Natalia was drawn to the needy, children who longed for love or that poor little lamb that was curled in the corner. She would come to their rescue at any turn. Her wish was to be a mother someday and she spoke of it often, and without a doubt, would have made a mother that anyone would envy.

Natalia's energy left a darkened room with brightness much greater than her size.  She was SO SO loved...but the special most unique quality about her, was the realization that she loved and gave back oh so much more.  More than you could ever capture in words, more than all the sands of all the beaches, more than all the petals on all the flowers, more than all the fishes in the seas... MORE.   Natalia may have departed from this world far too early, but she leaves behind so very much- her legacy of love and her gifts wrapped up with her radiantly beaming spirit, beams of pure love that will be forever passed on with her endless continuance of love.  May you feel that love, may you soak it in, may you pass it on, as it is forever ENDLESS in you.
